We’re incredibly grateful to announce that this year, we’ve distributed a total of 99 Christmas Hampers! Thanks to the unwavering support of our sponsors, donors, and volunteers, we’ve provided assistance to 98 families, 166 children, 1 independent youth, and 1 senior during this holiday season. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support from our community. A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone involved!

We also extend special appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of ‘Cram the Cruiser’ this year. Our gratitude goes out to Colquitz Middle School students, their families, school staff, and the dedicated members of Saanich Police (Shelley Eddy, Alex Omoding, Berle Zwaan, Mike Hales, Jody Pavesic, Andrea Tooms, and Steve Robinson). Your efforts in filling our hampers with non-perishable foods are truly appreciated.

This will be an opportunity for discussion on the direction of our neighbourhood transit plan.

BC Transit is revisiting some of the transit service concepts originally developed through the 2020 Burnside Tillicum Local Area Plan. Receiving ongoing input on our service from our customers and community partners is an important part of our processes, and BC Transit is seeking feedback on proposed changes to routing and service levels within the Gorge area.

On October 16th meeting Senior Transit Planner Work Lead – Levi Megenbir, Manager of Planning – Carl Purvis and Manager of Scheduling – Brian Harvey will be joining at the Community Meeting.

There will be a developer’s presentation on a proposal for 3106 Washington Avenue. A proposal for 3106 Washington Street consisting of 4 townhouses located behind the existing heritage home that is to remain. See the Land Use update for details.

Arbutus Park
Victoria City Council has approved funding for upgrading parks in Victoria. There were many ideas put forward at the January BGCA community meeting and the BGCA is looking for volunteers to join a committee that will be focused on keeping Arbutus Park in the forefront of the Parks department agenda. Anyone interested in participating, please contact Avery Stetski at astetski@telus.net.
